Happy 4 Year Anniversary !!

So Mitchell and I have been married for a whopping 4 years now. It feels like it has flown by but it also feels like an eternity and I can't remember what life was like without him in my life. All I know is that I'm glad we have an eternity more to keep making memories because these past four years have been a blast.

So I am off on my monthly updates for Owen. So here is just a quick recap of some of the highlights of the past few months.

We went to Galveston and enjoyed the beach and have been dreaming of going back ever since but haven't managed to find an opportunity quite yet. Owen loved the ocean and had no fear running into the waves.

We visited Mitchell at work and walked around the Water Wall just outside. Also toured around the Galleria for the first time. I definitely want to go back and ice state sometime when I'm not all pregnant.

This is how my son used to behave on our shopping adventures. Now he just whines and whines unless I give him food and if he gets full or runs out then he just screams and screams and tries to crawl out.

We gave Owen his first major haircut. I really didn't want to but he was getting a pretty bad mullet in the back. I tried to hold Owen still while Mitchell did the cutting. Addmittedly we are not professionals and who know that the setttings on a beard trimmer are different than hair clippers. Needless to say I bawled my eyes out as I watched the hair fall into the sink.

Before

After

I have been working on many different projects on the house but this has been one of the most relaxing and fun ones. Once Jamison is born and inherits Owen's bedding then I am converting his room into a galaxy far, far away.

We bought a fire pit to enjoy on the weekends.

Owen sometimes tries to use the dog door and gets stuck just like the classic story of Winnie the Pooh.

Here is another classic Owen story.

Owen loves running around outside even without shoes or pants on.

And of course the Fourth of July! We journeyed down to Friendswood to spend the day with the Cobbs. Saddly they are moving to St. George in a week and that will be our last adventure with them for a while. Owen had a long fun day and decided he didn't really need to nap because he was having so much fun. When it came time for fireworks he enjoyed them for maybe 60 seconds before he started crying. Then about 60 seconds later he was fast asleep on his dad's shoulder.

Mitchell is the only one that can get him to fall asleep like this anymore. He loves his daddy that's for sure.

I tried an activity I found on Pinterest for toddlers. You are supposed to put paint in a ziplock bag for mess free painting. Let's just say it lasted 10 seconds before Owen was bored and ready to do something else. FAIL.

But when all else fails my little buddy is always willing to help me water the lawn. We do not have a sprinkler in the back yard so I do it the old fashioned way with the hose. Both Owen and Shadow love running in and out of the water as I go.

14th Month Update

So my little monster now has 16 teeth and can now eat pretty much anything. He has also finally gotten over his super picky phase so that has been a relief. I am sure there are more picky phases to come though...

A few weeks ago we went back to Tomball to play...Sometimes the play got a little too rough.

But overall these two had a good reunion

I blame Shadow for the rough play. Sometimes I worry that someone will get hurt and I try to referee but they both just think I ruin all the fun.

Owen has also enjoyed playing with our homemade toys.

We have also been tapping into our musical side.

Owen also learned how to go down the stairs by himself this month so now we spend lots of time going up and down over and over again. It's a pretty great baby workout.

And to finish it off here is a somewhat long video of Owen being a weirdy during lunch time right before bed. He gets a little silly when tired.

Jumping Song

Owen is quite the fan of Sesame Street. I caught him doing this during an episode of Elmo's World.

13 Months and Counting

I keep waiting for things to slow down so I can catch my breath and take a break but it seems that life just gets more busy as we go.
It has become apparent in attitude and nature that Owen is indeed a toddler now and not my little baby anymore. He is completely weened and sleep trained which is wonderful but he is also more energetic and opinionated than ever. Don't get me wrong, I love his happy demeanor and high energy but it can be very exhausting especially when pregnant and trying unpack and set up a house.
Accomplishments:
Can climb on and off the couch
Walks while holding one hand
Gives high fives
Now has top back molars and the beginning of top canines (a total of 14 teeth!)
Loves Sesame Street
Loves the swings and the park
Mastered the art of begging

At the beginning of March Mitchell and I went to the Houston Rodeo. We were to late for the rodeo part but we did get to see some young lad perform in concert. I feel so old and out of touch. I can't even remember his name and I had never heard any of his songs before but apparently he is quite famous. I also learned that I don't enjoy loud music and concerts quite like I used to.

Owen also enjoyed spending a day with the cousins.

Fun time with friends.

St. Patricks Day

The big Move

Our first afternoon in the house with no furniture. Owen and I ate peanut butter sandwiches on the floor and he marked his territory by wiping some on the wall.

We slept in the living room for the first night on our air bed.

 The beginnings of furniture.

Owen enjoyed exploring every part of the new house.

For almost the first week we had no hot water, and no water at all for about 2 days. Notice the dirt accumulating on O's cheeks.

Mowing the lawn for the first time.
